It was always the words that went unsaid that made up the bulk of their conversations.

"So." Remus prodded the unconscious body with his boot and grimaced at the whimpering groan.

"Yeah." Oz wiped bloody hands across his jeans and helped the older werewolf prop the body against the wall. A quick obliviate and creative posing should convince the drunken wizard he'd simply enjoyed another bar fight.

"Right." Remus led the way out of the alley and onto the next bar, Oz tagging behind. Fenrir was out there, somewhere, and with Voldemort gone it was time to settle old scores.

"You know," Hook smiled pleasantly over tea. "You don't have to be Wendy." She had never really thought of it before, of not being who she was. "You could forget them for a while." Forget the boys? Her boys? She paused, thoughtful, and for a moment she wasn't Wendy anymore. She was Wen, pirate lass with nary a tie to bind her and a future as unfettered as the sea.

And then Wendy was back, that brief flash of unexpected yearning gone. "No thank you," she said, declining tea and futures in the same polite headshake.

And that was that.

Years vanished into a single heartbeat; for a moment they were themselves again. Rodney torn between complaining of the wait and trying to deconstruct the not-jumper they'd flown in on. Teyla greeting Elizabeth, sister-queens who put aside their royalty to wash away the lost years in joyous tears. Ronon quiet, darker than he’d ever been, who waited until Rodney looked up from where he knelt with John and saw something in his eyes that Rodney-past would’ve missed.

"It wasn't your fault you idiot." Six words eclipsing three years of the same thing said by everyone he couldn’t believe. Ronon smiles, faintly, as the carried grief is broken.

And now the world is whole again; a different sort of unity, but family still.
