SUMMARY/NOTES: Everything's relative, and it all comes down to ones and zeros. Evil!Rodney (or really, Pragmatic!Rodney, but still.) [livejournal.com profile] sga_flashfic Dark Side Challenge.

"You can't do this!"

Rodney didn't look up from the control room's primary terminal, "Can you please go have hysterics elsewhere? It's distracting."

"Let me in." John pounded on the door, glaring through the impervious glass riddled with scratches from the previous barrage of bullets.

"No." Rodney flicked his fingers absently and the force field bubble around him expanded, shoving John away from the door.

"There are people down there." Teyla's voice was cold and sharp and this time McKay looked up.

"Oh really? And here I thought I was just killing thousands of hamsters. Thanks for the clarification." He pushed a button on the interface and the entire complex shuddered as centuries old machinery lumbered into motion. A faint shiver of dust floated down from between the cracks in the bedrock above them. A warning chime went off and Rodney spun around with a curse to deal with the problem.

The rest of the team was retreated as Rodney’s force field expanded and contracted as he shifted focus.

"You have to stop him."

"I'm trying!" John snapped back, then yanked Teyla out of the way as the field suddenly flexed outwards.

"So destroy the building." Ronon shrugged as Teyla and John looked over at him, "You have a better idea?"

"I can hear you just fine you know." Rodney looked up from the second terminal with a satisfied smirk as the warning chime died away. "Destroy the building if you want, I'm not leaving and I'm not stopping just because some semi-sentient hunter-gathering morons refused to evacuate. They can't fight the Wraith, we can. It all comes down to basic math." He waved an arm encompassing them, the building, the planet, "Everything does."

"Those are people, not numbers!"

"Everyone's numbers. You, me--" He cut-off with a frustrated snort and pulled in the force field with flick of the wrist, refocusing on his work. "Go home John, it's my turn to save the world. If you won't, someone has to."

SUMMARY/NOTES: When you ask for help, be careful who you ask. (Semi-Evil!Atlantis... again. *sighs* I blame my Muse) [livejournal.com profile] sga_flashfic Dark Side Challenge.

It killed them, again and again. Sometimes fast, sometimes slow. Sometimes at the claws of an enemy, sometimes at the hands of a friend. It made them choose, over and over, soul-wrenching choices that killed one to save the many; to save another; to save themselves. And in the end, when they were sobbing and broken, it dropped them.

Rodney was the last, cocooned in pulsing fields of blue and amber, fighting through the choices, fighting and refusing to be broken. And when she let him go, Atlantis marked him with her sigil. Guinevere had her Lancelot, Atlantis had McKay.

SUMMARY/NOTES: [livejournal.com profile] dw100 Challenge #8: Unexpected.

It was an echo, nothing more. A simple memory that refused to die, to fade away into the streams of time that rippled in his wake. He saw her from the corner of his eye, smiling as he worked deep inside the TARDIS fixing glitches. He ignored her, ignored the grief that circled like moonlight in endless orbit around them both.

He figured it out one night, why she was still there, echoing. Somehow she'd stepped too close, blended too well; there was no longer a line where Rose ended and the TARDIS began.

The next time, he smiled back.

SUMMARY: [livejournal.com profile] dw100 Challenge #123 is return to flight. I wanted so desperately to end this with 'Funny little things, penguins.' but I resisted... and now I think I should have gone with it. ^_~

He watched them learn to fly in awkward leaps and bounds across the centuries. For every one that made it off the ground, a thousand others fell and yet they kept going. Kept driving forwards into the blue. It was obsessive, this urge to soar where nature had never intended them to go, yet they kept moving closer. One inch at a time. It was that drive, that unbounded will to do the impossible that kept him coming back. The universe was vast, and time unending, but if they could learn to fly, what else would they learn to do?

SUMMARY: [livejournal.com profile] dw100 Challenge #104: Flirting With Disaster.

Everyone dies, Rose, everyone dies. Even Doctors, when the time is right. The future is never settled, never static, and I can only see so far.

I told you, didn’t I? Time Lords don’t control time, no more than sailors control the sea; we’re both carried along by currents we can’t master.

I never said I was a god, Rose. It’s still just a life, no matter how you live it, sideways or backwards it’s all the same. We’ve ridden out the storms before, but happy endings are never guaranteed, and no one can promise you anything. Not even Doctors.
